FAQs

Will you remove my old mailbox?

This is included in the “turn-key” service when you order any mailbox post as stained and installed. If you place an order for unstained and uninstalled, but you wish for me to remove your old mailbox, I would be happy to do it for a fee ranging from $20-$60 depending on the difficulty.

What type of stain/sealer do you use?

I typically use Ready Seal, Olympic Elite, or Cabot professional grade semi-transparent stain and sealer in one.

What colors of stain can I choose from?

This photo represents the basic major stain color options available, however please be aware that advertised stain colors can look different on different kinds of wood. You probably know if you would like a darker look vs a lighter wood, or a reddish tone vs a brown one.

Which mailboxes do you use?

The Mid Mod and The Curve include this one, and The Vert includes this one. Those two are interchangeable in terms of size.

For The Vine. For The Pegasus. For The Hiker. For The Statement.

Can you use a different mailbox that I want?

You bet! I am open to using different mailboxes, but please note that I have designed the posts custom to the dimensions of specific mailboxes. If you want a different mailbox, I may need to rework the dimensions so that the post suits the mailbox. This may carry additional design costs, including any cost differences for the mailbox itself.

Will I be the envy of my neighbors and be instantly famous?

Yes. Yes, you will.

Can you install one of your posts onto a concrete surface like a sidewalk or driveway?

Of course! Every situation is different, so we can discuss your particular spot and figure out a solution. The simplest option is to attach a post base to the concrete using anchors. However, that way doesn’t tend to be the most sturdy feeling. The more solid method would be to actually cut a hole into the concrete large enough for the post to fit into, and then I would fill the space around the post with concrete. Either of these options carry extra costs, and during a visit to evaluate the spot we could discuss what is necessary.

What type of wood are your posts made from?

All of my posts are 100% cedar exterior with a cedar and/or pressure treated interior frame. Cedar is the best bang for the buck in terms of natural weather resistance, appearance, and cost. Redwood, teak, or mahogany woods are arguably better in terms of weather resistance, but they are MANY times more expensive than cedar.

Will my new post look EXACTLY like the one on your website?

Since cedar is a natural material, it can vary in color and the same stain color may look slightly different from one batch of cedar to another. Or even from one board to another. But they will be very similar.

How long will the post stay looking like new?

Exterior stain/sealers for fences, decks, and furniture typically provide a 4-6 year guarantee for weather protection, but reapplication every 2-3 years is advised. However, if you neglect to do that, your post will still look great after that time period. It just won’t look brand-new. I keep notes of every sale I make so if you want me to come back out in a few years and reapply the stain, I would be happy to do that for a small fee. Alternatively, a gallon of these finishes is about $35 and will last you for decades. A light sanding and reapplication of the stain with a soft cloth takes about 10-15 minutes.

Do you anchor your posts in concrete?

Of course! I will dig a 16-18 inch deep hole and set the mailbox post in the hole with concrete. I am extremely confident that this will be secure for decades. I have removed a number of mailboxes that have been in place for 20+ years that were put in the ground with much less. Sometimes with no concrete at all!

Can you make me a mailbox post like this cool one I saw?

I can make whatever you want! Get a picture of it or draw it out and send me a note.

Do your mailbox posts conform to USPS requirements?

Yes, it will be within the required range of height from the road and relation to the curb.
